Emergency Medical Dispatching
In 2008, all Flathead 911
dispatchers attended a comprehensive Emergency Medical Dispatching (EMD) course
hosted by PowerPhone. PowerPhone, Inc. is the world leader in crisis
communications training. Since its inception in 1984, PowerPhone has trained
over 120,000 public safety professionals how to save seconds and save lives in
emergencies. As the first organization to train 9-1-1 operators in police, fire,
and medical communications, PowerPhone has set the standards for call-handling
throughout the world.
All Flathead 911 dispatchers are certified to
give pre-arrival medical instructions to help safe lives during the precious
moments before medical help arrives. Flathead County 911 is the first dispatch
center in Montana to be fully certified by PowerPhone for Total Response
emergency medical dispatching.
