Flathead 911 Center running smoothly
KAJ News - October 26, 2010

The new Flathead County 911 Dispatch Center has been open since June and it appears that officials have worked most of the bugs out.

The new center dispatches law enforcement calls for the entire Flathead Valley and even places like Olney, Polebridge and Marion.

Just like any new building, especially one with electronics, the new center took some getting used to, but operations seem to be running smoothly now.

When 911 calls are taken they are dispatched to every law enforcement, fire and emergency unit in the county.

Director Scott Sampee says they may now be the busiest center in the state.

"It's a work in progress when you bring entities in together, in fact we think at this point we may be the biggest 911 center in the state. If you were to look at the call volume and everything. So it's a work in progress but things have gone well, people are working together, there's a lot of training involved."

The new 911 center is located behind Glacier High School and was built on shared land with the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation.
